its good to clean your diamonds too. Most real stones have holes behind them in the mount so you can clean them.

I have learned to love toothpaste as a cleaner for my Sterling. Just a fast rub down with the toothpaste then rinse it off. removes most tarnish in seconds. (NOTE: Some people say this puts fine scratches you can’t see but never bothers me and don’t use on valuable coins.) Cheap silver is ok…

that’s why i don’t like silver they require high maintenance unlike platinum and diamonds.

You can make this easier by just putting the water in first, and some baking soda and then stir it up. Then put anything in there, the longer it remains the cleaner it gets. You dont need the baking soda all over the silver cause the soda is only ment to make the water carry electricity by salt or something.

for a dirty piece like that….. heres a tip: rub it with baking soda before u dump it in the water. depending on the size of the chain put some baking soda (dry) in a bowl about 2tbsp and put the chain in and rub away u can use ur fingers or a soft bristle toothbrush to get into small details then dump it in the wash described in the video.

Thanks a lot for the tip – I had seen it on TV before but forgot to try it. I just cleaned my daughter’s baby bangle (my sister had put it on her kids and gave me it back in a terrible state) and I just tried cleaning it with your method and its came up like a new pin =D

The chemical reaction is between the aluminium, the sterling silver and the baking soda. (So if you have an aluminium pot, it would work or you could put al foil in the boiling hot water with baking soda until it’s clean. You would see the tarnish start to coat the al – foil)

No its the same as using silver polish, the polish does pretty much the same thing with a different chemical.

I think its because of the ‘tiny chemical reaction going on’, as she said…

Very helpful. But a few of my small rings have turquoise stone – if not this method, do you know what would work?

bcz I like your voice I’ll tell yousome thing you have to keep boiling it top of the oven instead of doing that 3 times and at the end ,brush it by a soft tooth brush and clean it with a soft towel, otherwise you don’t get too much shin.
