Teens, help me. What age did you start wearing jewelry and what would you want to wear?
Written by Jewelry on January 28, 2010My dad and uncle found my grandma’s jewelry box. She has been dead for 20 years and no one has ever gone though it. My daughter and I get first picks. Now, my daughter is only 1.5, so I have to pick something nice for her for when she is a teen.
What age is appropriate for a teen to receive expensive heirloom jewelry and what kind of piece would you want to own of your great grandmother’s?

Hmmm……If i was your daughter i’d like to be given the jewelry at an age of which i can understand how special it is that i am receiving jewelry that belonged to my deceased great grandmother.
(It is special to some families right? or is that just me)
So i’d say about 15+ would be fine.
As for your other questions. I started wearing jewelry at 13. And wear rings and necklaces.

I’d say no earlier than 16. It would make a great sweet sixteen gift. And by then I’d think most girls would be responsible enough to take care of it.

I would say give it to her for her 16th birthday. She would love it!
I would love a bracelet, necklace, earrings…anything really!

i guess it would depend on how responsible she is at what age. some people are more mature than others at the same age so i guess it would all depend on her. i would want maybe earrings or a necklace? maybe a bracelet but it would have to depend on how it looks lol. i dont think whatever you pick should be a problem since the most important thing is that it came from her grandmother. =)

i would say maybe a simple ring, bracelet, or a necklace. but that is just me. and everyone is different, i’m sure she’ll love whatever you pick out for her.

I was 12 when my dad got me a necklace for Christmas. It was a white gold heart with diamonds, it was really cute and the white gold was smooth which is the way I love it.
I say give it to her at like a 16th birthday necklace. Don’t give it to her at a young age, she’s probably going to accidentally break it.

my parents adopted me when I was 2 and a half and when I was 3yrs old they pierced my ears. It was VERY cute!
I wont do that myself when I have a kid, but SOME kids look good with jewelry.
keep it simple and nice.

I started wearing earrings when I was 1. …actually the day I turned one..and I never wore real jewelry until this year..when I was 15.
I’d say keep it until something very special like her 16th birthday..I was given a family heirloom when I was 12 and it ended up broken..I fixed it but still…

I agree with everyone else. I would give it to her when she turns 16.

Try giving Necklaces, rings, bracelets, and earrings.
the best time to give it to her i would say her 16th birthday to make it really special.

14 is when I started getting interested in jewelry, but I would not give her anything truly valuable until she is sixteen or possibly even later as a grad gift. :]

I honestly think that most teens are not capable of wearing expensive jewelry because a lot of teens are careless and would probably end up losing it..depending on what it is and stuff. If I were going to get something of my grandmother’s as far as jewelry I would probably want a ring or a bracelet or something along those lines. If you were going to give your daughter jewerly I would wait until she’s at least like 16 or 17. Take care and best of luck
) Hope I helped.

I got my Great Grandmothers engagement ring for my 16th birthday, and I love it. i’d say sixteen is a good age, i’d pick a ring, or necklace.

well considering youi haven’t listed what is in there i cant base my answer on fact but if i was you I would choose a necklace for my daughter and give it to her when she is 21, (no earlier, i speak from experience) and for myself i would choose a ring, preferably diamond but it’s not important (If you plan on having more children you can give the ring to your first son to use as an engagement ring when he is older)
