Jewelry-making Techniques: How to Secure Crimp Beads Using Crimping Pliers and Chain-nose Pliers

Written by Jewelry on July 7, 2010

Crimp beads can be used for finishing off your strung valuables or as “stoppers”, as in my Floating Illusion Necklace Tutorial video: www.youtube.com There have been many opposite sorts of tighten beads available. Ranging in sizes as well as sorts of metals – there have been the lot to chose from! we find myself regulating the 2mm tighten stone many often. But it all depends upon what you’re starting to be regulating them for. The incomparable sized tighten beads have been for securing incomparable necklaces, mostly with multi-strands. The micro sized tighten beads have been good for “stoppers”. The sort of steel is unequivocally the personal preference. Plated crimps have been not starting to wear as prolonged as gold-filled or argent silver, though they have been cheap which creates them only right for the beginner. Materials list: – Crimp beads, 2mm – Beading handle – Crimping pliers and/or chain-nose pliers Points to recollect when regulating crimping pliers to secure the tighten bead: – There have been dual notches in your crimping pliers. The initial nick is U-shaped. The second nick is oval. – String the tighten stone upon your beading handle as well as on all sides the tighten stone in the initial nick of your crimping pliers. Gently, though resolutely tighten the crimping pliers. – Now spin the tighten stone half-way as well as on all sides it in the second notch. Gently, though resolutely tighten the crimping pliers. You right away see which we have successfully folded your tighten bead. – To have sure which the tighten stone is secure, take the tip of the pliers as well as give the folded tighten the small squeeze. Points to recollect when regulating sequence

@almantaite Instead of using crimping pliers, you could use regular long nose pliers to flatten the crimps. It doesn’t make the crimps look as nice, but it works!

Is it possible to make the crimp bead round without crimping tool? or just leave it flat?

I think this is actually not a good way to do it. You want to be making many soft presses in order to work-harden the crimp and make it clamp to the wire more evenly.
