Starting your own jewellery business can be a very exciting process. Are you thinking of hand-crafting your jewellery or purchasing wholesale and selling it like that?
If you are hand-crafting, I would suggest you start an account on Etsy and start selling through there. Social networking sites are paramount in spreading the word. Use them all, and even linkreferral.com to get your site out there.
Make a budget and stick to it, don’t spend money on unnecessary advertising – you can find most of everything that you should need online.
A couple of great articles you should read before starting any business, I have attached below. Best of luck!

Firstly you need to find a good supplier. Go to the B2B sites to pick some good wholesale supplier to start. Also, you can contact the jewelry B2C sites to become their wholesale rep.

You don’t say if you want to sell your own or other people’s jewelry. If you are selling hand crafted, made by yourself pieces or if you want to buy ready-made and sell that. Are you wanting to sell high quality gemstones or cheaper imports? Real stones, bling, steampunk, vintage? Just saying "jewelry" is not enough. Some trends are really "hot" right now and some barely sell at all. If you are talkling about handmade jewelry, the best place for advice is to go to Rena Klingenberg’s jewelry success site. You can subscribe to her newsletter. She’s got a lot of experience and tips. Some of these may be good for any kind of jewelry sales.

You don’t say if you want to open a store, do shows and festivals or sell online. Or haven’t you decided that yet?

Jewelry sales are hard to come by right now. The economy is bad. Women will always want jewelry however so if you pick the right thing, you can sell. I know a lot of the most seasoned sellers are having tough times at the shows right now, so you want to think carefully about what you are going to sell and where.

Starting a business in this economy is not the way to go. There are plenty of profitable winner businesses out there selling as we speak for far less then their really worth. Now is the time for people who want the most out of life to grasp on and take the plunge.

I think a key idea to remember when buying a business is to try and buy a winner. I know its tempting to buy a loser business and turn it around, but I don’t think it’s the financially sound way to operate. Purchase a mature profitable small business and you’ll have cash flow right from day one.

Anyone interested in the buying of a business should check out The Business Buyer Advocate blog at http://www.businessbuyeradvocate.com/ . It is a great blog full of must have knowledge for anyone thinking about taking the plunge. It’s frequented by quite a few experts in various aspects of the field that can help you with any questions you might have or perspective you might need.

Buying a business very well could be the most important decision you ever make in your life. You have to make sure you buy the right business the right way.
